Sadaf Khadem becomes first Iranian Professional Womens Boxer

Boxscore: TEHRAN, Iran - April 14, 2019 - Sadaf Khadem, the one,and only Iranian female boxer and experienced personal trainer. was born in 1994 and have over the years amassed many records in her field. 


On April 13, 2019,  in Royan, France,   she became to first Iranian woman to appear in a professional official boxing bout against France's Anne Chauvin. Khadem won the match in three rounds.  It was the first official boxing bout for Sadaf Khadem the twenty-four-year-old boxer.


The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has recently allowed women to compete at international championships wearing the Islamic dress. Previously the International Volleyball Federation(FIVB), the International Football Federation ( FIFA), the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and has approved the participation of women in international champions wearing a hijab.‌‌


Boxing for women has not yet received an official permit in Iran since there is not enough women referees and coaches to conduct this sport. It is said that women boxers practice mostly in parks or the private women's sports clubs.


In the last evening on April 13, 2019, in Royan, western France. Sadaf Khadem was designated as the winner at the end of her amateur 3 rounds boxing match against France's Anne Chauvin.


Khadem took up boxing four years ago, being compelled to train in private fitness clubs which are special for women since public boxing facilities are reserved for men. In France, Khadem trained at the National Institute of Sport and was handed a French license to practice and fight.


“I hope this first fight will pave the way and that I will go as far as I can to have my name in the history of Iranian boxing," she said.
